This is a really old image, 1985, shot on 4×5. Not bad, but nothing special. It pops into my head when I think about my dedication to the art.
My dad & I were at a cabin in northern Wisconsin and awoke one morning to find that it was -40°F. A bit brisk, but it was calm and sunny and I just had to haul my 4×5 and heavy tripod out into the fresh snow. My dad seemed up for the adventure. My old Jeep CJ5 started right away, but was a bit hesitant about moving at first. Finally I was out setting up this shot, which I believe is Star Creek in Star Lake, WI. It was freezing cold, but I was having the time of my life. It was probably at that point when my dad saw how dedicated I was to my art… or that I was completely insane!
