I spent an enjoyable day in the mountain yesterday doing some large format photography. I started at Mount Evans, and then worked my way over to Guanella Pass near Georgetown, Colorado. Aside from wonderful scenery, fresh air, and peace & quiet, I was graced with ripe wild raspberries where I took this photo!
I didn’t feel like dragging the whole wet plate collodion setup with me, and decided to just go with 4×5 sheet film. Some days I want the look of wet plate, and other days I want the clean look of sheet film. At some point I want to get back to making dry plates and having a supply of them with me.
This image is from a quick scan of the 4×5 film, with some minor adjustments in Silver Efex. I plan to make silver prints on Ilford Warmtone paper from this and several other images.
